Wedding Rehearsals - Do You Need One?

One of the questions I am asked most often is “should we do a wedding rehearsal?”.

Wedding rehearsals are not for everyone. There are reasons for and against. As part of my ongoing commitment to ensure your special day is as perfect as possible, I strongly suggest we have a rehearsal a couple of weeks out from the wedding date, at the venue and at the approximate time of the wedding, if possible. This is not always possible and alternative arrangements are easy to make.

The rehearsal provides an opportunity for all those involved in the ceremony to get together and understand their role for the wedding day. This would also include:

  1. Opportunity for ‘readers’ to know when they will be called to read and to practice their readings

  2. To check music selections and how they will be played on the day

  3. To practice any rituals to ensure that whoever is involved know their role

  4. To check the positioning of the bride & bridesmaids and the groom & groomsmen

  5. Entry point for the bridal party.

  6. Finalising the signing of legal documents

Rehearsals are all about mechanics. It’s “you do this and I’ll do that”. Walk here, stand there, don’t forget to look at each other. A rehearsal won’t stop something random from happening on the day – but they certain can help ease any nerves about the logistics of your special day.
